When sports takes a backseat...

Sheng Yang showed me this site, dedicated to one of the brave paddlers who drowned in Cambodia. Even if they are strangers to me, their passing has evoked a sadness in me that is beyond description.

Men passing before their time. Lament, the reply.

Excruciating. The football on offer was totally pathetic. Only one team was playing, and it definitely wasn't Manchester United. Sure didn't help my massive headache. Which are now an-all-too-common experience. Bummer.

Tactless. Utterly tactless. May not have caught every single word, but the body language said it all. For someone who doesn't even KNOW us, she sure had formed her opinion of our abilities real early. Was it down to the fact that this course isn't in Business School? Or the fact that she thinks her juniors are morons?

Does it matter really? It doesn't seem like a very intelligent thing to do, dumbing down people you don't know. Hedge funds? Subprime crisis? Come on, we probably know more about both concepts than you and your friend combined, do, oh-so-thank-you-very-much.

And was there a real need for such pretentious enuciation? Pretending to be someone else never did any good. But, then again, it was a just warning about the supposed quality of the presentation.

Come on, if you could read this post, I'd love to remind that if you're so smart, you wouldn't be repeating this module. Bitch.

Just caught the re-run of "The Fantastic Four". First time I've watched a movie of the series. Pretty good, fanboy stuff. Dr. Doom's pretty cool, as is Mr. Fantastic. But man, I tell you I'd watch it again and again just for Jessica Alba. Damn, she's HOT!

Not that I appreciate movies just for the babes. I mean, the movie's good, like I said. But it never hurt to have babes. The James Bond franchise for one is iconic for the Bond girls. And Jessica Alba is hot. But for the record, I appreciate movies cos I think they're good.

But for emphasis...

DAMN! JESSICA ALBA'S HOT!

Before today, I never appreciated how discomforting it is for people to go around with their foot, or part of, bandaged. And I only required bandaging on my toe.

Pulling the nail out proved to be a short exercise. Indeed, the injection to numb the pain proved to hurt a lot more. A LOT MORE. Which proves at least one of two things. Either the injection's really effective, or I put myself through unnecessary pain. And if you were wondering, it felt like paper was being torn off. The nail of course, not the injection.

The whole consultation didn't take too long. 10 minutes, probably less. Go in, sit, explain, lie down, get the injection, have it pulled out and bandaged, and voila! I'm done. And oh yea, for that short time, its $65.

Shesh.

As with all little boys, I sought heroes to idolise when I was growing up. One of them was Robin Hood. The King of Thieves, renowned for his chivalry and generosity. He and his band of loyal brothers-in-arms struck a chord with the little impressionable me, and still do. I don't think I've really forgotten those stories, and each and every time I revisit them, the deeds become an even greater legend.

Which is why the following story saddens me,

90 seconds. We were this close from snatching all three points. I can't believe it. Just can't. Playing below our best, and we still comfortably held Arsenal at bay for large swarthes of the game. Quite frankly, its two points dropped, not a point gained.
